"Being at Mountain Spirit is more than hunting and fishing,
it is a religious experience. Spending time up there reminds
you where you come from and what is important in life. You
know that God exists when you see all the beauty up there
around the lodge – it is not something that happened
by accident. You can chase a 300+” bull elk or a 30+”
brown trout or you can just nap in the lodge – it really
doesn’t matter because Mountain Spirit becomes a part
of you and you love being there. The accommodations are fabulous
and the food is always awesome. I look forward to going back
year after year and spending time with Gary and Sam. It is
truly an unbelievable place. " |

"To bow hunt
for a bugling bull elk was always the pinnacle of my hunting
fantasy life. I knew that when the day came that I could afford
to pursue the fantasy in real life, I would do it right. I would
go where the game was. I would stick to primitive weapons. I
would hunt with people who knew where the game was and who routinely
got close to the animals. I might fly cheap, but I would not
hunt cheap.
When I found Mountain Spirit, I found the fantasy in real life.
Words of testimony cannot do justice to what I found in Chromo,
Colorado; kindred souls from the moment I bought my license
to the parting handshakes on the final day.
And, yes, we found elk. I came to full draw on two shooter bulls
at less than 25 yards, but in brush or at a poor angle. I lost
a stare down with another at 40 yards before he made me and
bolted. On the last morning, I sailed an arrow just over a fourth
bull, aiming with a 30 yard pin at a bull 20 yards away.
Bull and cow elk, mule deer, mountain lions, Merriam turkeys,
coyotes, black bear…I saw them all in a three day hunt.
And each night, back at the lodge with drink in hand, my soul
melded more and more into the Mountain Spirit.
Go if you can. I might be in the next room." Bill

"
Thanks for the hunting experience at Mountain Spirit. I've hunted
all my
life, and never thought I'd find a place like this. I had always
dreamed of
taking a big 6x6 bull and thanks to Mountain Spirit I've done
that three
times in the last four years. No hunting experience will ever
compare to the
memories I've taken from there. See you next season!" |

"Do
you just want to book an elk hunt or do you want to book a
lifetime memory? Both cost about the same. The decision should
be pretty easy! This is how I feel about the Mountain Spirit
experience. Certainly the elk hunting or trout fishing is
some of the best, if not the best, in the United States, but
hunts or fishing trips are much more! I like the fact that
Sam or Gary or one of their excellent guides are genuinely
excited about your success and equally disappointed when success
does not come your way. I like the fact that they have a terrain
varied enough to suit all types of wants or needs, and have
acreage rich enough in game that you can often be picky as
opposed to taking the only thing you see. My first elk ever
was a 6 x 7 and my second was a 6 x 6. Each has a story. I
like knowing that at the end of a morning hunt, I am going
to go back to a sit down, chef prepared, first class breakfast
where the conversation will be lively. I like this as much
as the hunt or fishing trip itself. Lunch is a problem. On
my last trip, the potato soup was so good that I ate three
bowls and had to take a two hour nap instead of going snowshoeing.
Dinner is the exception-it is even better. It generally starts
with everyone gathering in the great room with a drink and
sharing the day’s experiences. The food is generous
and as good as any fine restaurant that I might go to in Houston.
My wife and I have enjoyed some our most relaxing and enjoyable
evenings at Mountain Spirit. Finally, at the end of the day,
you are able to crawl into a wonderful bed and get ready to
do it again. As a very busy business owner in Houston, I can
honestly say that when I am there, I leave things behind and
when I leave there, I take with me another memory! We are
now club members and expect that our grandchildren will have
the same experiences. "
